Biography of Daddy Yankee


Ramón Ayala was born in a troubled neighborhood of Puerto Rico. During his childhood he was involved in a shooting in his neighborhood that took him to the operating room when caught in his leg by the projectile of an AK-47 that fractured his hip in the act. Ramon took refuge after a car and the only person who came to his aid was a drug addict, a fact that marked the awareness of the young Daddy Yankee. Due to the wound he was frustrated his dream to become a baseball player and Ramón became interested in music. At the age of eleven he began to sing songs inspired by the dancehall and hip hop genres. He began amateur with an aspiring DJ called DJ Piro who had set up a small studio in his house, with him Yankee recorded four songs that were released for the street on re-recorded vinyls and at parties, but mostly the themes were Interpreted by the boss in front of his friends in the neighborhoods of Puerto Rico. When the cangri moves to Barrio Obrero he meets a talented DJ who sees that he has a special talent and does not hesitate twice to create music with him, as well in 1990 in the mixtape of DJ Playero, Playero 34 exits the song Si Torturame and the new version of Hasta el ground, from then on the chemistry that arose between them was incredible. Daddy Yankee was part of the pioneering Reggaeton album called Playero 37 which contained eight hit songs, and while pursuing his dream of music, he was the father of a girl. His first official project of study like soloist was No Mercy, that was released 2 of April of 1995 by the record labels White Lion and BMG in Puerto Rico. In 1996, Yankee met Manolo Guatauba who was about to begin his career as an executive producer of underground records under the tutelage of Nico Canada & Tony Touch, creating a new great work chemistry that did not stop until 2002 when they had economic problems.

In the course of his career he has experimented with rhythms such as rap, merengue, pop and dance, but his greatest international successes have come when he has composed and performed his already famous reggaetón songs. This singer receives various nicknames within the music industry, in these circuits is known as 30-30 for the message contained in the lyrics of his songs, a sure portrayal of many aspects of everyday life in Puerto Rico. He has also earned the title of "King of Improvisation" for his creative ability, virtue with which he has been a winner for five consecutive years of various Street Jam Reggae Awards.

This artist has been able to build his musical career combining in each of his works the reflection of the social reality of his country with the most sensual rhythms. With this mix has made it possible for many young Latinos to identify with their songs.

In July of 2017 something historical happened for the father and the Latin music: the Puerto Rican became the most listened artist of the planet in Spotify.
